2019-20 Studio Art students have the distinction of being among the first classes at Gloversville High School to take art at a distance from their teacher for more than two months. They've done a magnificent job, turning in some highly accurate portraits of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump via Grid Enlargement and teaching themselves with videos and tutorials how to construct forms with 1-Point Perspective.
For those who have stayed the course, it has been a lesson in self-discipline and independent learning which will serve them well their entire lives. But, I like to think that before the COVID 19 closure, Studio Art students also learned a thing or two from their fearless leader, "Art Lady" (pictured below), Hopefully, they learned about Line, Shape, Space, Value, Form and Color and how those Elements of Art are related and interact, guided by the Principles of Design.
The following pages are dedicated to some of the best work by Studio Art students as they learned about those elemental relationships, gaining skills and confidence along the way. The sections are divided by assignments with the learning objectives listed. So, as you go through, you judge: does the work displayed meet the objectives?
"Art Lady" thinks so, and she's mighty proud of the young artists who produced the work.
